  3.                     HERE'S HOW SHAREWARE WORKS:

  5. You are encouraged to copy the SAM diskette and share it freely
  6. with others.  You have the luxury of trying out the program at
  7. your own pace and in the comfort of your own home or workplace.  This is
  8. not a "demo", but an actual working version of the program.
  9.  
  10. After you have used SAM for a maximum 30 day evaluation period you 
  11. must either discontinue use of the program or register your copy with
  12. ArkanSoftware Publishing. The registration fee is $75 + $4 S/H in US funds. 
  13. When you register you receive a printed User Manual, the latest version of 
  14. SAM (who is growing steadily so the version you have may be outdated), 
  15. three months of no-charge telephone support and program updates, and the 
  16. "UNREGISTERED" labels disappear from your screens.

  22. CDROM NOTE: Installation may be done directly from a CDROM or extract to a 
  23. 360K (or larger) diskette and then follow the steps below.

  25. SAM requires a hard disk and 286+ CPU.  To install the program, put the 
  26. SAM Install disk into your A: (or B:) disk drive and type:
  27.  
  28.           >A:<Enter>
  29.           >INSTALL<Enter>
  30.  
  31. INSTALL asks you for specific information and then creates a subdirectory
  32. on your hard disk and copies the necessary programs and files into that
  33. subdirectory. You'll need about 800K of available disk space.

  39. This same INSTALL Program is used to update to a newer version of SAM.
  40. Your existing data files are not affected.

  46. Starting the program:

  48. 1. Start SAM with the following DOS commands:
  49.           >CD\SAM
  50.           >SAM
  51.  
  52. 2. Sample data for evaluating and learning SAM is available by 
  53.    starting SAM with the following command:  
  54.    
  55.           >SAM /S
  56.    
  57.    The Appointment Detail screen will automatically use the date 
  58.    08/08/88 where some sample appointments are already made. Using the 
  59.    sample data will NOT affect your regular data files.

  61. 3. Be DILIGENT about data backup as certain key files CANNOT be easily 
  62.    replaced.

  70. SAM. The program utilizes clear, informative menus. The complete User
  71. Manual (as Help screens) is always available by pressing F1. Start at the
  72. very first screen for an introduction.

  152. 2. The programs cannot be sold as part of some other more inclusive package.

  154. 4. In the case of distribution via any telecommunications link
  155.    the following must be done:
  156.        All ArkanSoftware Publishing programs (and documentation files) must 
  157.        be transferred in a library or archive format.  This means that all 
  158.        the files on each ArkanSoftware Publishing disk must be combined into 
  159.        one file.
  160. 5. If you're copying the disks for distribution to students in a classroom,
  161.    you must provide them with the following written notice:
